Lagos Police Confirm Death of Kidnapped DCP Khan Salihu

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that Deputy Commissioner of Police Khan Salihu, who was kidnapped by suspected criminals, has died.

DCP Salihu passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026, the Command announced. Until his death, he served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration for the Lagos State Police Command.

His kidnapping and subsequent death represent a significant security breach, targeting a senior police officer in Nigeria’s commercial capital. The circumstances of his abduction and the timeline between capture and death remain under investigation.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the Nigeria Police Force and raised serious concerns about the vulnerability of even high-ranking security personnel to criminal elements. It comes amid escalating kidnapping-for-ransom activities across Lagos and surrounding states.

Police authorities have vowed to apprehend those responsible, though no arrests have been disclosed at press time. The Force has also ordered a security review for senior officers following the attack.

DCP Salihu’s death marks one of the most high-profile police casualties in recent years, intensifying calls for decisive action against organised criminal networks operating in Lagos State.
