The Lagos State Taskforce has arrested three additional suspects accused of harassing and extorting road users in different parts of Lagos.
According to officials, the suspects—described as louts—were apprehended during routine enforcement operations targeting illegal activities on major roads and traffic corridors across the state. The agency said the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to rid the streets of miscreants who intimidate motorists and disrupt public order.
Authorities disclosed that the individuals were caught while allegedly demanding money from drivers under false pretenses, a practice that has drawn widespread complaints from residents and commuters.
The Taskforce reiterated its commitment to maintaining sanity on Lagos roads, warning that anyone found engaging in harassment, extortion, or any form of public nuisance would face the full weight of the law.
Residents have welcomed the arrests, noting that such actions are necessary to ensure safety and restore confidence among road users. Many, however, called for sustained enforcement to prevent a resurgence of such activities.
The agency also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious behavior to relevant authorities, assuring that swift action would be taken.
The suspects are expected to be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations, as the state government continues its crackdown on street-level criminality.
