Makinde’s Ally Arapaja Dumps PDP, Hints at Next Political Move

A prominent political ally of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Alhaji Taofeek Arapaja, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), marking a significant development in the state’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

CDA News Nigeria reports that Arapaja confirmed his departure from the PDP while revealing that consultations were ongoing regarding his next political destination.

According to him, the decision followed extensive discussions with his political associates and supporters. Although he did not immediately disclose the political party he intends to join, he indicated that an official announcement would be made after concluding consultations with key stakeholders.

Political observers believe Arapaja’s exit could have implications for the balance of power in Oyo State, considering his longstanding influence within the PDP and his close political relationship with Governor Seyi Makinde.

His resignation comes amid increasing political realignments across the country as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.

As of the time of filing this report, the Peoples Democratic Party had not issued an official response to Arapaja’s resignation.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that more details regarding his next political move are expected in the coming days.
