GUSAU — The Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has called on Muslims in Nigeria to use the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud to pray for peace and stability ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the period as critical for the nation’s democratic journey.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that Matawalle made the call in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Publicity Secretary of the Matawalle Political Movement, Malam Yusuf Idris, in Gusau, Zamfara State, as Muslims celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) .
Felicitating with the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of the 1448AH/2026 Maulud celebration, the minister urged them to reflect on the teachings of the Prophet, which are anchored on peace, unity, and love for humanity. According to him, the Prophet’s teachings cover every aspect of human life and should be emulated by every Muslim .
“This year’s Maulud is coming at a very critical time for our dear country, Nigeria, as we are preparing for another election cycle,” Matawalle said. He stressed the need for prayers and supplication for Allah’s guidance through the election season, “where no one will be under any threat” .
CDA News Nigeria reports that the Minister urged Nigerians to emulate the virtues of love, peace, tolerance, and compassion exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW), while seeking divine assistance in addressing the challenges facing the nation . He prayed that the Maulud celebration would bring blessings, peace, and unity to the country.
