The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 62-year-old Lagos-based businessman, Nwabueze Nicholas Izueke, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport for ingesting 95 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.589 kilograms.
Izueke, who claimed to deal in clothing and auto parts, was headed to China via Addis Ababa when NDLEA operatives detected the drugs during clearance. He expelled the pellets during excretion observation and stated he engaged in trafficking to fund the completion of his country home in Enugu State.
In separate operations, the agency intercepted methamphetamine concealed in yogurt packs in Taraba State and inside Mp3 speakers in Abuja. A Colorado (synthetic cannabis) production facility was also raided in Ibadan, where the kingpin, Jimoh Nurudeen, was arrested with chemicals, cash, and vehicles.
Additional seizures included over 600kg of skunk in Abuja, tramadol capsules hidden in a petrol tanker in Kwara, and various illicit drugs in Ondo, Imo, Lagos, and Enugu States.
NDLEA Chairman Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa commended the operatives and urged sustained efforts to eradicate drug trafficking nationwide.
