Abuja, Nigeria — The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted 1.63 million tramadol pills and arrested an 80-year-old suspect in a major anti-drug operation. CDA News Nigeria gathered that the seizure formed part of the agency’s intensified nationwide campaign against the trafficking and abuse of illicit drugs.

According to information gathered by CDA News Nigeria, NDLEA operatives recovered the large consignment during coordinated operations targeting suspected drug trafficking networks. The agency said the elderly suspect was taken into custody alongside the seized drugs, while investigations have commenced to identify other individuals connected to the operation.

The latest interception underscores the NDLEA’s ongoing efforts to disrupt the supply of illicit substances and curb drug-related crimes across the country.

“The agency remains committed to dismantling drug trafficking networks and bringing all those involved in the illicit trade to justice. Investigations are ongoing, and anyone found culpable will face the full weight of the law,” the NDLEA said.

The suspect remains in NDLEA custody, and further investigations are expected to determine the source and intended destination of the seized tramadol pills before possible prosecution.
