Nigeria to Benefit from €557 Million EU Humanitarian Grant in 2026

Nigeria is among the countries set to receive a share of a €557 million humanitarian grant from the European Union in 2026.

The funding, approved under the EU’s annual humanitarian budget, will support emergency responses, food assistance, and protection programs in regions affected by conflict, climate shocks, and displacement.

A significant portion of the allocation is expected to be directed toward crisis-affected areas in Nigeria, where millions remain in need of humanitarian aid due to ongoing insecurity and food shortages. Other priority regions include the Sahel, the Horn of Africa, and conflict zones in the Middle East.

The EU emphasized that the funding will focus on life-saving interventions, strengthening local response capacities, and addressing severe malnutrition, especially among children.
