The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully executed a series of devastating and precisely targeted airstrikes that have completely destroyed a significant terrorist base in Nigeria’s North-East region — dealing a major and strategically consequential blow to insurgent operations in an area that has endured more than a decade of brutal violence, displacement, and humanitarian suffering at the hands of terrorist organisations including Boko Haram and its offshoot, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
The airstrikes, carried out with clinical precision by NAF fighter jets and combat aircraft, reduced the terrorist base — which had reportedly served as a planning, logistics, and operational hub for insurgent activities across the region — to rubble, neutralising a critical node in the terrorist network and significantly disrupting the enemy’s capacity to coordinate, supply, and launch attacks against civilian communities and military formations in the affected areas.
The Nigerian Air Force, in confirming the successful operation, described the airstrikes as part of a sustained, intelligence-driven, and carefully planned offensive campaign designed to systematically degrade, dismantle, and ultimately destroy the operational infrastructure of terrorist groups that continue to threaten the lives, livelihoods, and stability of communities across Nigeria’s North-East geopolitical zone.
NAF spokesman confirmed that the airstrikes were carried out following extensive aerial surveillance, intelligence gathering, and coordination with ground forces — ensuring maximum operational effectiveness while minimising the risk of civilian casualties in surrounding areas.
The destruction of the terrorist base is expected to significantly disrupt insurgent activities in the affected corridor, denying terrorist elements a critical safe haven from which to plan and execute attacks against military personnel, civilian communities, humanitarian workers, and critical infrastructure across the region.
The operation has drawn commendations from the Defence Headquarters, the Office of the National Security Adviser, and senior military officials who praised the professionalism, bravery, and operational excellence of the NAF personnel involved in executing the mission.
Communities across the North-East, which have lived under the shadow of terrorist violence and the constant threat of attack for over a decade, have welcomed the news of the airstrikes with cautious optimism — expressing hope that sustained military pressure will continue to roll back the terrorists’ reach and restore lasting peace, safety, and normalcy to a region that has suffered enormously and far too long.
The Nigerian military has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the complete defeat of terrorism in the North-East and across the country, pledging that operations against terrorist groups will continue with increased intensity and determination until every Nigerian community is free from the scourge of insurgency and violent extremism.
