NNPCL Raises Petrol Price to N1,405 Per Litre, Adds N35 Hours After Discount Announcement.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has increased the pump price of premium motor spirit (PMS), commonly called petrol, to N1,405 per litre from N1,370, following the announcement of a discounted fuel price.

CDA News Nigeria reports that the new price took effect on Friday, 16th October 2026, meaning motorists now pay N35 more for every litre of petrol bought atNNPC LtdL retail outlets.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that several fuel pump attendants, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the adjustment was announced on Thursday and implemented the following day.

The increase is about 2.5 per cent. Although modest, it adds to the cost of transportation, food and other goods that depend on fuel, at a time when many households are already stretched.

The state-owned oil company has not publicly explained the reason for the adjustment. It is also unclear how the increase relates to the discounted fuel price announced earlier.

Motorists, transport operators and other consumers are expected to watch closely whether other major marketers adjust their prices in response. NNPCL is among the biggest petrol retailers in the country, and its pump price often influences other filling stations.

CDA News Nigeria will continue to follow developments and update this report when NNPCL issues an official statement.
