Nsukka Anglican Synod Urges Tinubu to Fulfill Promises Amid National Crises

NSUKKA – The Anglican Diocese of Nsukka has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to redouble efforts in fulfilling his promises to Nigerians, citing severe economic hardship, insecurity, and eroding public trust in institutions .

The call was part of a communiqué issued during the 2nd Session of the 11th Synod, held from October 22–26, 2025. The church urged the federal government to adopt humane economic reforms, curb reckless borrowing, and ensure transparency in managing recovered public funds .

In addition, the synod pressed for the release of IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, condemning his continued detention despite court orders. It also described the killings of Christians and other innocent citizens as a “silent genocide” and called for decisive action from security agencies .

The synod further challenged the new INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, to lead electoral reforms that would restore credibility to Nigeria’s elections .
