Abuja, Nigeria) – In a heartfelt message of appreciation, the newly elected National President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Comrade Babangida Isah Onimisi, has lauded the pivotal role played by Voluntary Youth Organizations (VYOs) in the recently concluded council elections.
The letter, dated 13th October 2025, extended “heartfelt appreciation” to the VYOs for their “outstanding contributions and solidarity.”
Acknowledging Grassroots Support
President Onimisi specifically praised the groups for their commitment to youth unity, passion for nation-building, and belief in the NYCN’s ideals, which he said “gave tremendous strength to our democratic process.”
He emphasized that the “vigor and discipline” demonstrated by VYO members reaffirm that “organized youth formations remain the backbone of the Nigerian youth movement.”
A Promise of Collaborative Governance
Striking a forward-looking tone, the President made a significant pledge to the organizations that supported his ascent.
“As I assume the mantle of leadership, I want to assure you that the VYOs will remain at the heart of our administration,” Onimisi stated.
He promised that their “voices, ideas, and initiatives will guide our policies and shape the programs that define our tenure.” The core of his administration’s goal, he outlined, will be to “work hand in hand to empower young people, strengthen collaboration, and build a more dynamic NYCN that truly represents every youth organization in Nigeria.”
The message concludes with a final note of thanks for their “trust, partnership, and loyalty to the youth cause,” expressing a commitment to collectively “build the future we have all envisioned.”
This public affirmation is seen as a strategic move to consolidate support and set the stage for an inclusive and collaborative tenure under his leadership.
