The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (retd.), has commended Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for what he described as purposeful and impactful leadership in the state.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Governor at Government House, Uyo, on Thursday, April 23, 2026, the Defence Minister noted that driving across the state reveals a distinct ambience marked by quality road infrastructure and visible indicators of good governance .
Musa, who was in the state to deliver the convocation lecture at the Combined Convocation Ceremony of Akwa Ibom State University, said he had been an ardent follower of the Governor’s ARISE programmes on television, describing them as evidence of a government truly committed to its people .
“My prayer is that others will also watch and see what has been done, and to know that these things are possible. It’s not rocket science,” the Minister stated .
He observed that Akwa Ibom remains peaceful because the people feel loved and cared for, expressing hope that Nigeria, particularly the northern region, will regain lasting peace .
On national security, Musa praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts and noted that security management requires both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches — with non-kinetic being good governance, which he said Governor Eno is demonstrating in Akwa Ibom .
The Minister also commended the Governor for supporting the 2 Brigade of the Nigerian Army and other security formations in the state, assuring of the federal agencies’ commitment to securing the nation.
Governor Eno, in his response, congratulated the Minister on his appointment and described him as one of the country’s most admired generals .
