Osun Police Recover Second Corpse, Emir Buried

Osun State Police Command has recovered another corpse from the Mayfair Motor Park in Ile-Ife, bringing to two the number of people killed in Sunday’s shooting incident, as the remains of Accord Party chieftain, Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Emir Ajagungbade, were buried in Osogbo.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that Emir was reportedly shot dead during a clash involving him and a group led by another NURTW leader, identified as Sibi, with a video showing him lying face down in a pool of blood inside a vehicle.

Governor Ademola Adeleke confirmed the death through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, and directed Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Zungura to identify and arrest those responsible. Police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi disclosed that the motor park has been shut down and the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, urging suspects to report themselves rather than defend themselves on social media.

The killing has been linked to moves by some transport union members to install Emir as the next Osun NURTW chairman. Osun Commissioner for Transportation, Sesan Oyedele, denied claims that he had endorsed Emir for the position on the government’s behalf, insisting he only promised to present the union’s request to the governor.

Suspected hoodlums reportedly attacked two hospital workers at the mortuary after discovering they were filming proceedings, prompting additional police deployment to restore calm before the burial rites were performed.

CDA News Nigeria will continue monitoring developments in this investigation.
