Abuja, Nigeria — Former Kano State Governor and leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has alleged that Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi signed an agreement to serve only one term if elected president.
CDA News Nigeria reports that Kwankwaso made the claim while speaking on political developments ahead of the 2027 general election. According to him, the alleged agreement formed part of political negotiations involving opposition figures.
Kwankwaso, however, did not publicly provide documentary evidence of the alleged accord. As of the time of filing this report, Peter Obi had not publicly responded to the claim.
“Peter Obi signed a one-term presidency accord as part of the political understanding,” Kwankwaso alleged.
The claim has generated reactions in political circles, with observers calling for clarification from the parties involved. Analysts say the issue could become a subject of debate as political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections continue to evolve.
CDA News Nigeria notes that the allegation remains unverified, and no independent evidence has been presented publicly to substantiate the claim. Peter Obi and his associates retain the right to respond.
