Gunmen have reportedly abducted the principal of a secondary school and four students who were sitting for the National Examinations Council (NECO) examination in Kogi State, sparking fresh concerns over insecurity in schools.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the incident occurred when the armed attackers invaded the school premises, disrupting the ongoing examination before whisking away the principal and four candidates to an unknown destination.
The attack reportedly caused panic among students, teachers, and residents, forcing the examination to be interrupted as security agencies and local authorities launched efforts to rescue the victims.
Although details surrounding the abduction remain sketchy, security operatives have reportedly commenced investigations and intensified search operations to secure the safe release of those kidnapped and apprehend the perpetrators.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the incident has renewed calls for stronger security measures in schools, particularly during public examinations, as stakeholders continue to express concern over repeated attacks on educational institutions in parts of the country.
