In a decisive air offensive, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully destroyed terrorist enclaves and logistics facilities in the Timbuktu Triangle area of Borno State.
The operation, conducted on January 8, 2026, by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, targeted identified structures at Abbaga Jiri. Acting on verified intelligence confirming active terrorist presence, NAF assets executed precision strikes to degrade the militants’ capabilities and deny them sanctuary.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, NAF spokesman, stated that the mission was designed to shape the battlespace for advancing ground troops, with strict adherence to rules of engagement. Follow-up strikes neutralized armed elements observed regrouping at the location.
“The identified terrorist structures were decisively engaged and destroyed… Subsequent advances by ground troops into the area confirmed the effectiveness of the air strikes,” Ejodame confirmed.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, hailed the operation as a reflection of the NAF’s resolve to dominate the air domain in support of joint operations. He reaffirmed the commitment to relentless, intelligence-driven campaigns to dismantle terrorist networks across the region.
