ONITSHA, ANAMBRA STATE — A 16-year-old schoolgirl, Precious Okafor, has recounted the harrowing details of how a pastor, Evangelist Dozie Ezani, allegedly raped her repeatedly on a church altar under the guise of casting out “seven marine spirits.”
The teenager, a native of Amichi in Nnewi South Local Government Area, spoke to journalists at the Onitsha office of the Anambra State Special Anti-Touting Squad (SASA) after being rescued from the pastor’s custody.
Precious revealed that she was brought from Lagos to her hometown in November 2025 by her aunt, who claimed the pastor of ‘Jesus Is Ontop Ministry’ had declared her possessed and in need of a “special deliverance.” She was handed over to Ezani at his residence, and her aunt immediately departed.
“He didn’t give me food for days. At one point, I became very weak due to hunger, and the pastor overpowered me and started forcefully having intercourse with me. He did that several times on the altar during the deliverance session,” Precious narrated.
The abuse reportedly extended beyond the church, occurring also at the pastor’s poultry farm in Igboukwu, Aguata LGA. He allegedly threatened to kill her if she disclosed the assault.
SASA operatives arrested Ezani at his poultry farm two weeks ago following a tip-off. The suspect has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka. During interrogation, Ezani admitted to sexual relations with the minor but blamed “the devil’s handiwork.”
Precious, who is experiencing bleeding after consuming herbal concoctions allegedly given to her to terminate a pregnancy, has appealed to the state government for urgent medical assistance.
