Wike’s Camp Takes Over PDP National Secretariat in Abuja After Police Unseal Building

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has assumed control of the party’s National Secretariat at Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

The takeover followed the unsealing of the secretariat and Legacy House in Maitama by the Nigeria Police Force on Saturday, acting in compliance with a Court of Appeal ruling that settled the protracted leadership dispute in Wike’s favour.

The National Publicity Secretary of the Wike-backed National Working Committee, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, confirmed that the buildings had been officially handed over to the National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed Takushara, and National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

The secretariat had been under police seal since November 2025, when a violent clash erupted between the Wike-backed faction and a rival group led by Tanimu Turaki (SAN), which was supported by Governors Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed.

In a statement, the PDP commended the police for their professionalism and adherence to the rule of law. However, the party issued a stern warning that it would not condone any further acts of disruption or breach of peace at the headquarters, noting that security agencies had been alerted to take necessary action against violators.

The leadership called on all aggrieved members to “sheath their swords and embrace unity in the collective interest of the Party.”
