Peter Obi faults Tinubu’s comment on hunger, says economic hardship has worsened

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s recent comments on hunger, insisting that the economic situation in Nigeria has deteriorated and that millions of citizens are facing increasing hardship.

According to CDA News Nigeria, Obi said the country’s rising cost of living, persistent inflation and declining purchasing power have left many Nigerians struggling to meet their basic needs.

He argued that the reality experienced by ordinary Nigerians contradicts official narratives suggesting that economic conditions are improving. Obi maintained that hunger, unemployment and poverty remain major challenges requiring urgent and practical solutions.

The former Anambra State governor called on the Federal Government to prioritise policies that would stimulate production, create jobs, strengthen the economy and improve food security. He stressed that governance should focus on easing the burden on citizens rather than making statements that appear disconnected from their daily realities.

CDA News Nigeria reports that Obi’s remarks have generated fresh political debate, with supporters and critics expressing differing views on the country’s economic direction and the government’s reform policies.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no official response from the Presidency to Obi’s latest comments.

CDA News Nigeria independently verified that the remarks were made by Peter Obi and reports the news gathered from the report. Any response from the Presidency will be reported as it becomes available.
