Peter Obi Urges Free, Fair Anambra Election, Backs Labour Party

ANAMBRA – Former Anambra State governor and Labour Party leader, Mr. Peter Obi, has reaffirmed his commitment to a credible gubernatorial election in the state, stating that while he supports his party’s candidate, his primary concern is a fair process.

Speaking to reporters in his hometown of Agulu, Obi emphasized that all candidates in the November 8 poll are his friends.

“For this election, my party is Labour Party. I want a free and fair election. All the contestants are my friends. As a member of Labour Party, I am supporting our candidate, but not to the extent of vote buying because I can never buy votes,” Obi stated.

He clarified that he has no personal stake in the outcome and trusts the people of Anambra to decide their next leader without undue influence.

“I’m not on the ballot, and I believe that all those contesting are related to me one way or the other. Let Anambra people decide who will be their governor,” he added.

In a related development, Obi demonstrated his ongoing commitment to social investment by donating N30 million to two health institutions in the state—the School of Nursing, Adazi Nnukwu, and the University on the Niger Teaching Hospital, Ogidi—to support their operations.
