The Sokoto State Police Command has foiled a suspected bandit attack and recovered 43 rustled sheep during a security operation aimed at curbing criminal activities in the state.
According to CDA News Nigeria, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence on the movement of suspected bandits in one of the affected communities.
Police authorities said the suspects fled into nearby bushes after sighting security operatives, abandoning the livestock during the operation. The recovered sheep have since been secured while efforts are ongoing to identify and reunite them with their rightful owners.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling banditry, livestock theft and other forms of violent crime across Sokoto State. It also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to improve public safety.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the police have intensified patrols and surveillance in vulnerable communities to prevent further attacks and ensure the protection of lives and property.
Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and recover any additional stolen property linked to the criminal operation.
