The Nigeria Police Force has arrested three suspected members of an ATM robbery syndicate in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, recovering 16 bank cards believed to have been used in carrying out fraudulent transactions.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the arrest was disclosed in a State-by-State Executive Summary of Police Operational Success covering nationwide operations conducted between August 6 and 8, 2026, issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu. The report detailed successful police operations carried out across 12 states within the period, resulting in the arrest of at least 50 suspects, the rescue of 15 kidnap victims, and the recovery of several firearms, ammunition, and other exhibits nationwide.
According to the summary, Ekiti State recorded the arrest of four suspects across two separate operations. CDA News Nigeria reports that in one operation, a suspected cultist was arrested at Efon-Alaaye in possession of a locally made gun and cartridge. In the second operation, three suspected members of an ATM robbery syndicate were arrested in Ado-Ekiti, with police recovering 16 ATM cards believed to be linked to their alleged fraudulent activities.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the arrests form part of a broader wave of successes recorded by police and allied security agencies across the country within the reporting period. In Ogun State, six students of the Gateway ICT Polytechnic who had earlier been kidnapped at Ipara were rescued following sustained security pressure, with three suspected kidnappers neutralised in a subsequent operation that also led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, mobile phones, and N2.3 million. In Enugu State, security agencies rescued five kidnapped victims following a gun duel with abductors at the Anuka Forest Reserve near the Kogi State border, in addition to the rescue of two other kidnapped victims and the arrest of ten suspected cultists in Obeagu Ogui.
Elsewhere, police in Katsina State engaged armed bandits at Ganzaki Hill in Malumfashi Local Government Area, neutralising one bandit and arresting another injured suspect, while rescuing two kidnapped children and recovering an AK-47 rifle loaded with ammunition alongside five rustled animals. In Akwa Ibom State, four suspected cultists were arrested during an alleged confraternity initiation ceremony at Ikot Idem Village in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the Ekiti State Police Command has continued to intensify surveillance around banking premises and ATM points across the state, as authorities work to curb the resurgence of card-swapping and ATM-related fraud schemes targeting unsuspecting bank customers.
