Presidency Calls on Nigerians to Report VIPs Flouting Police Escort Ban

The Presidency has called on Nigerians to act as monitors and report any private individuals or celebrities still using police escorts, in violation of President Bola Tinubu’s recent directive.

The President’s Special Adviser on Media, Daniel Bwala, made the appeal during a television interview, encouraging citizens to capture photographic or video evidence of such violations to help enforce the policy.

“If you identify a celebrity, a private sector person, or any individual who has police against the executive order of the president, as much as you can, capture evidence,” Bwala stated.

He clarified that the order is not absolute, as certain critical government officials will still receive security coverage from agencies like the State Security Service (SSS) or the Civil Defence Corps, but not from the Nigeria Police Force.

The move is part of broader security reforms aimed at redeploying police personnel from VIP protection to core law enforcement and public safety duties.
