ABUJA – President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the names of 21 nominees to the Senate for confirmation as board members of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
In two separate letters to the Senate, the President nominated former Rivers South East Senator Magnus Abe as Chairman of the NUPRC board and lawyer and energy expert Adegbite Ebiowei Adeniji as Chairman of the NMDPRA board.
The nominations, announced by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga, follow recent Senate confirmations of Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan as NUPRC CEO and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as NMDPRA CEO.
Other NUPRC board nominees include non-executive commissioners Engineer Paul Yaro Jezhi and Sunday Adebayo Babalola, alongside executive commissioners Muhammed Sabo Lamido (Finance), Edu Inyang (Exploration), Justin Ezeala (Economic Regulation), and Henry Darlington Oki (Development), among others.
For the NMDPRA board, Chief Kenneth Kobani and Mrs. Asabe Ahmed were nominated as non-executive members, with executive directors including Abiodun Adeniji (Finance), Francis Ogaree (Hydrocarbon), and Oluwole Adama (Gas Infrastructure).
President Tinubu urged the Senate to expedite the confirmation process, emphasizing the need for professional regulation in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
