Rep Sam Onuigbo Inducted into COLMAS Business School Board at Michael Okpara University

Rep. Sir. Samuel Ifeanyi Onuigbo, FCIS, FNIM, KJW, has been formally inducted into the Board of the College of Management Sciences (COLMAS) Business School at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, in a ceremony attended by distinguished guests, associates, and well-wishers.

Onuigbo, a member of the Board of the North East Development Commission, is widely recognized as the father of the Climate Change Act in Nigeria. His legislative legacy reflects a deep commitment to sustainable development, institutional reforms, and national progress.

A seasoned administrator, Onuigbo rendered nearly two decades of meritorious service at the United States Department of State, serving at the US Embassy in Lagos as a Supervisory Fraud Prevention Specialist before transitioning fully into public service in Nigeria.

His tenure in public office has included service as Special Adviser on Public Affairs at the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Commissioner for Finance in Abia State, and two consecutive terms as Member Representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South at the House of Representatives — roles in which he demonstrated prudence, vision, and administrative competence.

Of particular significance to the university community was his pivotal intervention when five programmes in COLMAS were delisted. Through personal commitment, strategic engagement, and the deployment of his goodwill and resources, Onuigbo facilitated their restoration, reinforcing the institutional standing of the College.

The induction ceremony underscored not only his remarkable record of public service but also his enduring support for education and capacity development. His inclusion on the board marks yet another milestone in a career defined by purpose-driven vision and consistent dedication to sustainable development.
