Presidential and National Assembly campaigns will begin on August 19, 2026, while governorship and State Assembly campaigns will commence on September 9, 2026 . As provided by law, campaigns shall end 24 hours before election day .

INEC also rescheduled the Osun State Governorship Election from August 8 to August 15, 2026 . The commission noted that while some activities for the Ekiti and Osun governorship elections have already been conducted, remaining activities will now be implemented strictly in accordance with the Electoral Act, 2026 .

Haruna urged political parties to adhere strictly to the timelines, warning that INEC will enforce compliance with the law . He described the successful conduct of the elections as a collective responsibility and called on all stakeholders to cooperate in ensuring peaceful, credible, and inclusive elections that reflect the sovereign will of Nigerians .
