The media office of Mayor Lucky Obinwa Igbokwe has issued a strongly worded press release categorically rejecting viral claims circulating on social media alleging that the popular aspirant has stepped down from the race for the House of Representatives seat representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency.
The statement described the reports as entirely false, baseless, and the deliberate handiwork of desperate political opponents seeking to mislead the public, confuse supporters, and create unnecessary tension ahead of the APC primaries.
“Mayor Lucky Obinwa Igbokwe remains fully in the race, remains the People’s Choice, and has not withdrawn, stepped down, or entered into any agreement to abandon his aspiration,” the statement declared.
The media office further clarified that no official position of the APC has declared the House of Representatives seat exclusively zoned to Umuahia North or micro-zoned to the Ohuhu bloc, as being falsely portrayed in certain quarters, describing such narratives as politically engineered misrepresentations.
The statement also reminded the public that political offices within the constituency have historically rotated across different blocs without hostility or division, citing the examples of the Governorship position and the Abia Central Senatorial seat going to Ibeku without any objections or attempts to create division.
“Political engagement should remain democratic, peaceful, and people-driven,” the statement stressed.
Mayor Igbokwe’s camp urged all party faithful, supporters, delegates, and members of the general public to disregard the false claims entirely and remain focused on issue-based politics, reaffirming that the aspirant continues active consultations across Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South with a clear vision of delivering purposeful and effective representation for the people.
The statement was signed by the Media Office of Mayor Lucky Obinwa Igbokwe, House of Representatives Aspirant, Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency.
