Senator Austin Akobundu has been appointed Director-General and Campaign Manager of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general election.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the appointment was announced on Thursday by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communications for the council and Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, as part of the newly unveiled campaign structure.
According to the statement, Akobundu will supervise the council’s daily operations and coordinate the implementation of its campaign strategies, working to maintain discipline, unity and accountability across the national structure ahead of 2027.
The appointment forms part of a broader campaign council that also named Kashim Ibrahim-Imam as chairman and former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, as deputy chairman, with the structure comprising six Deputy Directors-General overseeing operational directorates and 30 directors handling specific portfolios.
Atiku described the council as a deliberately lean organisation designed to reflect the economic hardship facing Nigerians, insisting it would operate on competence, accountability and measurable results rather than political patronage.
