Senator Akobundu Touts Infrastructure, Empowerment Projects in Two-Year Report

In a comprehensive performance report, the office of Senator Austin Akobundu has detailed a series of projects and initiatives undertaken for the Abia Central Senatorial District within his first two years at the National Assembly.

The report positions Senator Akobundu as a high-performing legislator, highlighting achievements across infrastructure, education, and youth empowerment.

Key infrastructure projects listed include the ongoing construction of the Oloko-Amizi and Oloko-Ugbuebulle roads, alongside the installation of solar-powered streetlights in eleven major markets across the district’s six Local Government Areas.

In education and skills development, the Senator has sponsored the training of 360 youths in competitive ICT fields like software development and cybersecurity, with a target of 1,000. He has also awarded scholarships to 113 constituents at the National Teachers Institute and sponsored skills acquisition in farming, sewing, and paint production, providing start-up kits and cash to beneficiaries.

Legislatively, Senator Akobundu has sponsored bills for the establishment of several federal institutions in the district, including an Institute of ICT and a National Sport University. A motion he moved on the dilapidated Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene Road reportedly led to Senate resolutions urging its completion, with the Abia State government having since commenced work on the route.

The scorecard concludes that these “people-oriented” projects validate Senator Akobundu’s statesmanship and commitment to the district’s development.
