The national convention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is set to proceed as scheduled today despite reported concerns over venue access, according to party chieftain Dino Melaye.
Melaye assured party members and delegates that preparations for the convention remain intact, dismissing fears that logistical or administrative challenges could disrupt the exercise.
The convention, expected to play a key role in reshaping the party’s leadership structure and strategic direction ahead of future elections, has attracted attention from political observers nationwide.
In recent days, there had been controversy surrounding the use of the proposed venue, with differing claims over access and procedural compliance.
However, Melaye insisted that the party had made all necessary arrangements and remained committed to holding a successful convention.
He urged members to remain calm and focused, emphasizing that internal disagreements would not derail what he described as a crucial democratic process within the party.
Political analysts note that the outcome of the convention could significantly influence the ADC’s cohesion and readiness ahead of the 2027 general elections, especially as parties intensify internal restructuring.
