…We Will Get It Right in Remaining Group F Matches, Says Technical Adviser
The head coach of Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, Moses Aduku, has expressed confidence that his side will recover from their opening defeat to Spain and still qualify for the knockout stages of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland .
CDA News Nigeria reports that the Falconets began their Group F campaign with a 2-0 loss to the former champions at the Arena Sosnowiec on Monday. Marisa Garcia opened the scoring in the 13th minute, with substitute Alba Cerrato adding a second in the 73rd minute .
CDA News Nigeria gathered that Aduku was blunt in his assessment of his team’s performance, admitting they failed to match the level required. “We did not come to the party today, we did not play,” the coach was quoted as saying on the FIFA website . However, he remained optimistic about the Falconets’ chances. “But all the same we have two more games to play, we will get it right. Of course, we are going to go through [to the knockout rounds]. I am confident. We did not play today,” he added .
The defeat leaves Nigeria in a challenging position in Group F, where Spain occupy second place with three points, while China PR top the group after a 5-0 victory over New Caledonia . With two-time finalists Nigeria needing a strong response, their remaining group fixtures against China PR and New Caledonia have become crucial .
