“Stop Blaming Tinubu, Fix Your Mess,” Presidency Tells ADC

The Presidency of Nigeria has urged the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to resolve its internal leadership disputes, warning against attempts to blame President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the party’s challenges.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Presidency described the ADC’s recent criticisms as misplaced, noting that the leadership crisis is an internal matter that should be addressed through proper legal and party channels. Officials emphasized that the federal government is not responsible for the party’s ongoing disputes.

The statement comes in the wake of escalating tensions within the ADC, following INEC’s suspension of recognition for factions led by David Mark and Nafiu Bala Gombe. The move by INEC, based on court directives, has triggered widespread debate about the party’s structure and governance.

The Presidency urged ADC leaders to prioritize dialogue, reconciliation, and adherence to internal governance rules to resolve their differences. It also called on all political actors to respect judicial processes and avoid politicizing administrative decisions.

Political analysts say the intervention by the Presidency highlights the increasing scrutiny of opposition party disputes in the lead-up to the 2027 elections. They note that resolving such crises internally is essential to maintain democratic integrity and public confidence.

The ADC has yet to respond to the latest remarks from the Presidency, as pressure mounts on its leadership to find a lasting solution.
