In a story of a shattered dream and a difficult journey home, a young Nigerian man has been found trekking on foot from Guinea Bissau back to Nigeria.
The man, whose identity is not yet known, left Nigeria in June 2024 with the goal of reaching Europe. His plans failed, leaving him stranded in Guinea Bissau with no money, phone, or support.
His plight was discovered by a fellow Nigerian, a cyclist known online as Real-Emmiwuks, who is on his own multi-day cycling tour. The cyclist posted a shocking video of their encounter on the dusty roads, calling for public help.
According to the cyclist, he has provided some immediate assistance. However, more support is urgently needed to secure the stranded man’s safe passage back to Nigeria.
The online community is now rallying. The cyclist is directing people to his social media page, @emmiwuks, to coordinate contributions and aid.
