Suspected ‘One Chance’ Operator Apprehended as Mob Burns Vehicle in Rivers

Port Harcourt, Rivers State — A suspected member of a “one chance” robbery syndicate was reportedly apprehended by residents in the Rumuekini area of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State, after an alleged robbery operation went wrong.

CDA News Nigeria gathered from eyewitness accounts and reports circulating on social media that one female suspect was apprehended during the incident, while other members of the group reportedly escaped. The vehicle allegedly used by the suspects was subsequently set ablaze by an angry mob before security operatives arrived.

According to reports, the incident occurred after residents intercepted the suspects following allegations that they had been involved in “one chance” robbery activities within the Rumuekini axis.

“Residents intercepted the suspected robbers and set their operational vehicle ablaze before security personnel intervened,” eyewitnesses reportedly said.

CDA News Nigeria reports that the Rivers State Police Command has previously confirmed arrests of suspected “one chance” syndicates in the Port Harcourt area. However, as of the time of filing this report, the Command had not issued an official statement specifically confirming the Rumuekini incident or the identities of those involved. Investigations are expected to continue.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and hand criminal suspects over to law enforcement authorities rather than resorting to jungle justice.
