Operation Gbagalape: Police Smash Suspected FCT–Nasarawa Kidnap Network

Abuja, Nigeria — CDA News Nigeria reports that the Nigeria Police Force has announced the dismantling of a suspected kidnapping syndicate allegedly responsible for terrorizing communities along the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)–Nasarawa corridor. The breakthrough was disclosed on Saturday through a video shared on the Force’s official X account.

According to the police, operatives of the Force Intelligence Department – Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS) carried out the operation under the code name Operation Gbagalape. The operation reportedly led to the arrest of several suspected kidnappers, the discovery of their hideout, the rescue of kidnapped victims, and the recovery of evidence linked to the group’s activities.

The police described the operation as a significant success in ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and improve security across the FCT–Nasarawa axis. CDA News Nigeria gathered from the official police report that the operation forms part of intensified intelligence-led efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating within the region.

“Operatives of the Force Intelligence Department – Special Tactical Squad tracked down the criminal network through Operation Gbagalape, leading to the arrest of suspects, the rescue of victims, and the recovery of evidence linked to their activities,” the Nigeria Police Force stated.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the suspects or confirmed whether additional arrests are expected. Investigations are ongoing, while the rescued victims are receiving appropriate care as police continue efforts to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
