Tears as Beauty Queen ‘Eko Princess’ Remanded in Police Custody Over Alleged N35m Fraud

A former Miss Nigeria, identified as Omowunmi, popularly known as ‘Eko Princess’, has been remanded in police custody over allegations of a N35 million fraud, sparking claims of an “evil plot” to keep her behind bars, according to a viral TikTok video by her family.

The family of the beauty queen alleges that despite the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) granting her administrative bail, she remained in detention. A relative, tearfully speaking in a video, pleaded for public intervention, stating: “The system is dealing with us. They are planning to eliminate her.”

The family further claimed that the victim in the case has even written to the police to drop the charges. The Lagos State Police Command is yet to issue an official statement regarding the allegations.

A source close to the matter noted that while the fraud case is pending, the refusal to release her after a court’s order is highly irregular. “This raises serious questions about the conduct of the officers involved,” the source said. “The family is terrified for her life.”

As of press time, calls to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer were not returned, and the command has not confirmed the exact nature of the alleged fraud.
