Tension Brews in Umuariaga Community Ikwuano Over Alleged Land Donor Omission

Residents of Umuariaga Awomlebo community in Oboro, Ikwuano LGA, are on edge following the circulation of a letter on social media that allegedly omits their name from the list of communities that donated land o Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike.

The controversial letter, which has gone viral on platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook, has sparked anger and anxiety among community members who claim their historical contribution is being erased.

In a move to quell the rising tension, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor M.O. Iwe, has appealed for calm. He has urged the aggrieved community to formally channel their grievances through their traditional ruler and other key stakeholders to facilitate a proper resolution.

Responding to the crisis, the President General of Umuariaga Community,Mr.Jacob Onyemachi Ekpo has made a public statement to reassure the people. He has asked everyone to remain calm, confirming that he is fully aware of the situation and is actively working at the highest level to ensure Umuariaga Awomlebo’s name is not excluded from the official records.

“I am on top of the matter,” the President General assured. “We are taking all necessary steps to ensure our community gets the recognition it deserves for its contribution. I urge everyone to avoid any action that could breach the peace.”

Stakeholders are now expected to meet to address the issue and clarify the contentious document.
