Tinubu Declares Emergency on Security Training Institutions

President Bola Tinubu has declared a state of emergency on Nigeria’s security training institutions, citing outdated facilities that fail to meet modern standards. The announcement was made by Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, who chairs the National Economic Council’s ad-hoc committee on security training overhaul.

According to Governor Mbah, President Tinubu expressed concern that the current state of training facilities for the Police, Civil Defence, and other security agencies does not align with his economic growth agenda. The committee has been given a 30-day deadline to submit a comprehensive assessment report for immediate action.

The declaration follows an on-the-spot assessment of training facilities in Lagos by committee members, including Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and former Inspector General of Police Alkali Usman Baba.
