UMUAHIA — A political clash has erupted in Abia State over President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election prospects, with former Minister of State for Science and Technology, Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, boldly dismissing Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe’s prediction of a Tinubu loss.
Ikoh, who serves as the Abia Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, stated firmly on Wednesday that President Tinubu would instead “record a resounding victory in Abia State and other parts of the country” in the next presidential election.
He described Abaribe’s forecast as “misleading and completely out of touch with reality,” asserting that the senator was not speaking for Nigerians and that his view was a personal opinion lacking factual backing.
Pointing to “Tangible Results”
In his response, Ikoh highlighted the Tinubu administration’s deliverables in Abia, including increased federal allocations to the state and local governments, as evidence of growing support.
“The Tinubu administration has already delivered tangible results in Abia and other States,” Ikoh stated, positioning the president for a sweeping performance in the region.
The rebuttal sets the stage for intensified political maneuvering in the South-East ahead of 2027, as both party loyalists and opposition figures stake early claims on the region’s voting direction.
