Tompolo’s Silence Contrasts Dokubo’s Outburst in Pipeline Disput

A quiet tension is brewing in the Niger Delta over pipeline security contracts, with ex-militant leader Asari Dokubo publicly expressing dissatisfaction while the contract holder, Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), remains completely silent.

Dokubo has been vocal in recent statements, reportedly speaking “over 10,000 words” criticizing the awarding of the multi-billion naira pipeline surveillance contract to Tompolo’s firm and questioning transparency and community inclusion in the process.

In sharp contrast, Tompolo—who secured the lucrative federal contract—has not issued any public response, a stance observers have labeled “super maturity.”

The disagreement highlights underlying rivalries and concerns about equity and influence in the oil-rich region’s security and economic arrangements.
