Troops Arrest 86 Terrorists, Thieves in Nationwide Sweep

Abuja – In a significant blow to criminal networks, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced the arrest of 86 terrorists, collaborators, and oil thieves during coordinated military operations across Nigeria over the past week.

According to a statement from Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, the troops also rescued 26 kidnapped hostages and foiled oil theft worth over N13.4 million.

The operations, which spanned from October 16 to 23, 2025, targeted terrorist groups and criminal elements in all six geo-political zones.

Key successes include the arrest of 12 IPOB/ESN members in the South East, the dismantling of illegal oil refineries in the South-South, and the recovery of weapons from the residence of a wanted extremist leader in Plateau State.

Major General Kangye commended the troops’ professionalism and reiterated the Armed Forces’ commitment to securing the nation.
