Trump Dismisses Idea of 2028 VP Bid to Skirt Term Limits

CDA News – Former President Donald Trump has publicly rejected a speculative plan that would see him run for vice president in 2028 as a way to stay in power after his current term.

When asked by reporters if he would pursue the vice-presidential office, Trump acknowledged, “I would be allowed to do that.” However, he quickly dismissed the idea, stating, “I wouldn’t do it… I think it’s too cute. It wouldn’t be right.”

The theory, popular among some of his supporters, suggested that Trump could run as VP on a ticket with a loyalist—like current Vice President JD Vance. If they won, the president would resign, allowing Trump to reassume the top job and effectively bypass the two-term limit set by the 22nd Amendment.

Trump’s comments come after his former advisor, Steve Bannon, claimed “there is a plan” to keep Trump in the White House beyond 2028, promising to reveal alternatives to the constitutional mandate “at the appropriate time.”
