Executives of Ugwunwanyi Ikwuano have paid a courtesy visit to the country home of ‘Ugwumba’ Chika Ishionwu in Amaoba, Ikwuano Local Government Area, where they expressed appreciation for his years of support and leadership.
The women leaders said the visit was aimed at personally thanking Ishionwu for what they described as over a decade of unwavering commitment to community development and women empowerment across Ikwuano.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Ifeoma Ukoha commended Ishionwu’s grassroots engagement and consistent support for community initiatives. She noted that his contributions have had visible impacts across various communities, earning him widespread respect and recognition.
According to her, based on his track record, the women believe he possesses the competence and character needed to effectively represent Ikwuano at the Abia State House of Assembly.
Also speaking, Nnena Nduka urged Ishionwu to heed growing calls from stakeholders to declare his intention to contest for the Assembly seat, assuring him of the group’s full support.
In his response, Ishionwu expressed gratitude for the visit and acknowledged the leadership of Ngozi Oji, whom he described as a source of inspiration to women in the area. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting women and community development initiatives.
While maintaining a cautious stance on his political ambition, Ishionwu revealed that consultations are ongoing and assured that a decision would be communicated in due course.
The visit concluded with prayers and renewed confidence in his leadership.
