Umeh Accuses PMP of Blocking NDC Participation

Chief Ralph Umeh, a chieftain of the New Democratic Coalition (NDC), has accused the ruling People’s Mandate Party (PMP) of deploying underhand tactics to frustrate his party’s participation in the 2027 general elections.

Umeh told CDA News Nigeria on Monday that the PMP-led administration was weaponizing state institutions to systematically block the NDC from meeting electoral requirements.

“They’re using PMP to block NDC participation,” Umeh declared, alleging that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had been compromised to withhold the opposition party’s registration certificate.

The NDC chieftain warned that such anti-democratic manoeuvres threaten Nigeria’s fragile democracy and could trigger widespread unrest if not addressed.

Political observers note that the 2027 contest is shaping up as one of the most fiercely contested in recent history, with the PMP desperate to maintain its grip on power.

The PMP National Secretariat has yet to respond to Umeh’s allegations at press time.
