News Article:
Reactions have continued to trail the newly announced US-Iran peace deal, with former US Special Envoy for Iran, Robert Malley, and foreign policy analyst Sina Toossi criticizing President Donald Trump’s handling of the crisis.

Responding to celebrations surrounding the agreement, the critics argued that the deal effectively underscores the shortcomings of the administration’s strategy. According to them, after months of conflict and heavy costs, the outcome failed to secure the sweeping objectives initially presented by Washington.

“You only indict yourself and achieve nothing,” they said, suggesting that diplomacy could have been pursued earlier to avoid loss of lives and economic disruption.

Trump had announced that a peace agreement with Iran had been completed, paving the way for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the removal of the US naval blockade. However, questions remain over unresolved issues, including Iran’s nuclear programme and the long-term sustainability of the ceasefire.

The agreement is expected to be formally signed in Switzerland later this week amid cautious optimism from the international community.
