US, Nigerian Forces Kill ISIS Deputy Leader Abu-Bilal al-Minuki in Joint Operation

A joint military operation involving United States and Nigerian forces has reportedly eliminated a top ISIS commander, Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, during a counterterrorism offensive in northern Nigeria.

Security sources disclosed that the operation targeted key terrorist hideouts linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), a faction affiliated with ISIS. Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, described as a deputy leader within the terror network, was allegedly killed alongside several fighters during coordinated air and ground assaults.

The operation is being viewed as a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to weaken extremist activities in the Lake Chad region and restore security in Nigeria’s northeast.

Military authorities say intelligence sharing and strategic cooperation between Nigerian troops and international allies played a critical role in the success of the mission. However, official statements detailing the exact location and casualty figures are still awaited.

Security analysts believe the death of al-Minuki could disrupt ISIS-linked operations and reduce attacks on civilian communities and military formations in the region.

Nigeria has continued to intensify counterinsurgency operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents, with support from regional and international partners.
