The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 1,028,929 out of 1,059,360 registered voters in Ekiti State have collected their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) ahead of the governorship election on Saturday.
INEC National Commissioner Mohammed Haruna disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja, noting the collection rate stands at 97.1 per cent—marginally higher than the 97.0 per cent recorded in 2023.
Following the suspension of Continuous Voter Registration on May 15, the state’s registered voters increased from 987,647 in 2023 to 1,059,360 in 2026. PVC collection was extended from June 11 to June 14 following stakeholder consultations in Ado-Ekiti.
Haruna said 14,406 replacement PVC applications were received under Section 18(1) of the Electoral Act 2026, with most already collected. However, downloadable replacement cards could not be implemented due to incomplete technology infrastructure, though the option will be available for the Osun governorship election in August 2026 and the 2027 general election.
A detailed breakdown by Local Government Area has been uploaded on INEC’s website and social media platforms. Haruna urged all registered voters to turn out peacefully on election day and reassured Ekiti residents of INEC’s commitment to a free, fair, credible, and inclusive poll.
