Wike Criticizes ‘New’ Tinubu Supporters, Says They Couldn’t Sing ‘On Your Mandate’ in 2023

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has criticized individuals he accused of only recently showing support for President Bola Tinubu after benefiting from the sacrifices made during the 2023 elections.

Speaking at a thanksgiving ceremony in his hometown in Rivers State on Saturday, Wike said, “All these people now you are seeing singing ‘on your mandate we stand,’ that time when they were needed most, they couldn’t do that. They couldn’t come out to say ‘vote for Bola Ahmed Tinubu.’”

Wike, whose strategic support for Tinubu in Rivers State proved decisive in the 2023 polls, asserted that he and his supporters stood firmly with the President when it was politically difficult to do so.

He challenged those now claiming loyalty to the President to recall where they were during the tense electioneering period.

The minister assured his political base that their efforts would not be in vain, reinforcing his continued influence in Rivers politics and alignment with the Tinubu administration.
