The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said it will be difficult for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to reclaim the presidency in the 2027 general elections.
CDA News Nigeria reports that Wike made the remark while commenting on the current state of the opposition party, arguing that internal divisions and unresolved leadership challenges could weaken its chances at the polls.
According to the minister, the PDP must first resolve its internal disputes and rebuild unity before it can effectively challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next presidential election.
Wike maintained that political parties seeking power must demonstrate cohesion, strong leadership, and a clear vision capable of convincing Nigerians to entrust them with governance.
His comments come amid growing political realignments and consultations ahead of the 2027 elections, with major political parties intensifying efforts to strengthen their structures and expand their support base nationwide.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that Wike’s remarks have added to the ongoing debate over the future of the PDP as the party prepares for another attempt to return to power.
