The political feud within the Peoples Democratic Party has intensified as a key media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, launched a blistering personal attack on Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.
In a social media post on Tuesday, Lere Olayinka, Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications, described Governor Makinde as a “serial defector” who is only loyal to himself and predicted he would dump the PDP after the 2027 general elections.
Olayinka chronicled Makinde’s past political movements, alleging he left the PDP for the ANPP in 2007 after failing to secure a senatorial ticket, moved to the SDP in 2015 after a failed governorship bid, and only remained in 2019 because he got the PDP ticket.
Allegation of Sabotage Against Adeleke
The aide leveled a serious accusation, claiming that Governor Makinde “worked against” Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, during the 2022 election to ensure he remained the sole PDP governor in the South-West region.
“Ibadan Gomina General has never been loyal to anyone or any political party, he is only about himself,” Olayinka wrote.
He challenged anyone in doubt to verify with a list of prominent Oyo PDP figures, including former federal lawmakers and party chieftains he named.
This public attack from a top Wike loyalist underscores the deep and seemingly irreconcilable rift between the two powerful PDP governors, further fracturing the opposition party ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Governor Makinde is yet to publicly respond to these specific allegations.
